It is easy to find an agent who knows how to combat in melee, staying close to a foe to keep them on their toes. But blackpowder slayers work better at a distance, employing weapons which would normally draw the attention of others. Through unique techniques, these death dealers manage to silence foes with these exotic weapons, leaving fallen foes in their wake.

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies

The blackpowder slayer is proficient with all firearms but not siege weapons. This ability alters weapon proficiencies.

Lethal Shot

The blackpowder slayer gains Point-Blank Shot as a bonus feat even if they do not meet its prerequisites. Whenever the blackpowder slayer makes an attack with a firearm within its first range increment, they gain a bonus to damage equal to 1/2 their class level (minimum +1).

This ability replaces the surgical finesse class feature.

Swift Reload (Ex)

At 3rd level, a blackpowder slayer reduces the action required to reload a firearm by 1 step (this stacks with the Rapid Reload feat). At 7th level, they instead reduce the action needed by 2 steps.

Discerning Strikes

A blackpowder slayer’s discerning strike deals 2d4 damage at 3rd level and 3d4 at 5th level. The damage dice improve to 3d6 at 7th level and 3d8 at 9th level. At 11th level, and every odd level thereafter, the damage increases by +1d8.

This alters discerning strike.

Silent Shot (Ex)

At 4th level, whenever a blackpowder slayer makes an attack with a firearm they loaded, they can choose to do so silently, causing their gun to make no noise upon attacking.

This ability replaces the efficient heist class feature.

Firearm Teamwork (Ex)

At 5th level, whenever an ally of the blackpowder slayer’s is threatening a creature, any ranged attack made with a firearm by the blackpowder slayer does not provoke an attack of opportunity from that creature. In addition, the blackpowder slayer is treated as though their firearm threatened with a reach of 5 feet for the purpose of flanking with an ally. If the blackpowder slayer would already threaten with a firearm, this increases the distance that they can threaten by 5 feet.

This ability replaces the coordinated combat option from the agent’s conspiracy.

Reliable Shot (Ex)

At 6th level, the blackpowder slayer reduces the misfire of any firearm they wield by 2 (to a minimum of 0).

This ability replaces the 6th-level improvement to the throat punch option for the devious technique class feature.
