Cutthroats embody a more aggressive and flagrant distortion of subterfuge, using their agility and combat expertise to control the flow of an engagement.
Proficiencies
Cutthroats are proficient with simple weapons, as well as light armor and bucklers. In addition, if this is this character’s first level in any class, they may select a martial tradition of their choice.
This alters proficiencies and replaces surgical finesse.
Blended Training
Whenever the cutthroat would be able to select a skill talent from their agent levels, they may instead select a combat talent. The cutthroat uses their operative modifier as their practitioner modifier. If the skill talent is specifically a utility talent, the combat talent must also be a utility talent.
This alters skill expertise.
Trick Attack (Ex)
Rather than capitalizing on opportunities, the cutthroat relies on elaborate setups and stunts to inflict serious damage on their foes. Having an ally adjacent to the target of the cutthroat’s attack does not allow the agent to apply their discerning strike dice to the attack’s damage.
At 1st level, the cutthroat chooses one skill they have unlocked skill leverage with. As part of a move action to move, the cutthroat may choose a creature and attempt a skill check with their chosen skill (DC 20 + the target’s CR). On a success, the first attack that the cutthroat makes against the chosen creature this turn adds the cutthroat’s discerning strike dice to the attack’s damage.
At 5th level and every 4 levels thereafter, the cutthroat chooses one additional skill which they can use trick attack with. When using trick attack, the cutthroat may target a number of creatures equal to the number of different skills the cutthroat can use with trick attack, attempting a check with a different skill for each target.
At 5th level, if the cutthroat succeeds at their skill check, the target of the attack is considered flat-footed against the first attack the cutthroat makes against them this turn.
This alters discerning strike and replaces coordinated combat.
