Offering a voice to the lost and departed, these dirgesingers are capable of calling upon the spirits of the deceased to aid them; which often vary from benevolent to vengeful. No matter the spirit however, the dirgesinger calls upon all to aid their requiem of the lost.

This archetype requires sphere shaman.

Requiem of the Lost (Su)

At 1st level, the dirgesinger possesses a number of souls equal to 3 + her casting ability modifier (minimum 1), which are replenished whenever the dirgesinger rests to regain spell points. This otherwise functions as the soul weaver’s bound nexus class feature (without the bound nexus abilities); if she gains the bound nexus (or similar) ability from any other source, her pool of souls increases by an amount equal to her casting ability modifier (minimum 1).

This replaces the sphere spirits class feature gained from sphere shaman.

Requiems (Su)

The dirgesinger is a keeper of souls, and uses music to call them forth. The dirgesinger gains a number of abilities, known as requiems, which expend a soul’s energy, returning it to the nether until the dirgesinger rests to regain spell points. Requiems are activated as a standard action by expending a soul, and if a saving throw is required, the DC is equal to 10 + 1/2 the dirgesinger’s shaman level + her casting ability modifier.

Once expended, the soul creates a 10-foot radius centered on itself, plus 5 feet per 5 shaman levels she possesses, which lasts for a number of rounds equal to the dirgesinger’s casting ability modifier (minimum 1). A requiem’s area cannot be moved once expended, and confers its effects to creatures within the area, which last for as long as they remain within the area (unless otherwise specified).

The dirgesinger gains the following requiems:

Graveborn Courage

At 1st level, allies within the requiem’s area gain a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and to saving throws against charm and fear effects, increasing by 1 for every 5 shaman levels she possesses.

Haunting Wail

At 1st level, enemies within the requiem’s area suffer a -1 penalty to saving throws against curse, death, fear, and necromancy effects, increasing by 1 for every 5 shaman levels she possesses.

Lovelorn Dirge

At 1st level, allies within the requiem’s area immediately stabilize, and gain a number of temporary hit points equal to her shaman level + her casting ability modifier (minimum 1). A creature can only gain these temporary hit points once per use of this ability. These temporary hit points linger for 1 round per shaman level if the ally leaves the requiem’s area of effect.

Lifebound Serenade

At 6th level, the requiem’s area reveals the state of the creatures within it. The area is affected by the Divine Force, Divine Life, and Divine Undead Divination sphere alternate divinations. The information revealed by this requiem is known to the dirgesinger and the dirgesinger’s allies within this requiem’s area of effect.

Screams of the Lost

At 6th level, enemies who start their turn or enter the requiem’s area suffer 1d6 sonic damage per 2 shaman levels and become deafened for as long as they remain within the requiem’s area. A successful Fortitude save halves the sonic damage and negates the deafened condition. An enemy can only suffer from this damage once per round. If an enemy fails the saving throw and is already deafened, the enemy remains deafened for 1 minute, even if they leave the requiem’s area; multiple failures increase the duration by 1 minute.

Ode to the First Breath

At 10th level, allies within the requiem’s area that are suffering from the blinded, confused, dazed, deafened, sickened, or stunned conditions suppress the duration of such abilities for as long as they stay within the area, in addition to any condition that can be removed with the Life sphere restore ability’s restore mind application (including conditions and effects from the Life sphere Restore Senses talent, if she possesses the Restore Senses talent). The condition’s duration does not change during this time.

Refrain of the Inevitable

At 10th level, all enemies within the requiem’s area who start their turn or enter the requiem’s area must succeed at a Will saving throw each round or increase their age category by 1 step (young adult to middle age, middle age to old age, and old age to venerable), suffering the penalties as normal (but not the benefits). This cannot cause the target to die of old age, and the increase to age category (and its associated penalties) persist for the requiem’s duration, even if they leave the requiem’s area.

Fragmented Dominion

At 14th level, all enemies who start their turn or enter the requiem’s area must succeed at a Will saving throw or become confused and cannot willingly leave this requiem’s area for 1 round (although other creatures may move an affected creature out of the area). This requiem can interfere with both normal means of movement as well as teleportation and other magical means of transportation. This is a mind-affecting possession effect.

Hexed Lament

At 14th level, as part of using this requiem, the dirgesinger chooses a hex gained through his spirit that usually targets a single creature. All allies or enemies (chosen when using this requiem) are immediately subjected to the effects of the chosen hex for the requiem’s duration (or the hex’s original duration, whichever is shorter) for as long as they remain within the area. Creatures who enter the area are also subject to the hex. A creature affected by a hex this way is treated as having been targeted by the hex normally (for the purposes of not being targeted again the same day, etc.); if a hex has a limited number of uses per day, the dirgesinger must expend 2 uses when activating this requiem.

Hymn of the Lost

At 18th level, enemies within the requiem’s area begin to edge closer to death, and must succeed at a Fortitude saving throw at the start of each of their turns for as long as they remain within the area or suffer 1d3 temporary negative levels. These negative levels persist for the requiem’s duration and affect a creature even if they leave the requiem’s area. Additionally, creatures who fail the save gain vulnerability against negative energy (only when dealt as damage) and sonic damage for as long as they stay within the area.

Soulful Suffusion

At 18th level, allies within the requiem’s area can, at the start of their turn as a free action, choose to become incorporeal for 1 round (or as long as they remain within the area). Additionally, allies within the requiem’s area become immune to bleed, energy drain, and nonlethal damage.

This replaces the hexes gained at 2nd, 10th, and 18th level, and the wandering hexes gained at 6th and 14th level.
