Foe Reaper (Ranger Archetype)

Bind Spirit: A foe reaper may seal pacts with otherworldly entities known as spirits. In order to summon a spirit, the foe reaper must learn the spirit’s ceremony, constellation, personality, and seal by completing its four Knowledge Tasks; see Researching the Spirit for more information on this process.

Each day, a foe reaper may bind one spirit to his soul using pact magic; see Performing a Pact Ritual. The spirit’s level may not exceed the foe reaper’s maximum spirit level, which is limited to 1stlevel spirits at 1st level. At 4th level and every three ranger levels thereafter, the foe reaper’s maximum spirit level increases by 1, to a maximum of 6th-level spirits at 16th level.

A foe reaper possesses a binder level equal to his level. The DC to resist a foe reaper’s supernatural powers is equal to 10 + 1/2 the foe reaper’s level + the foe reaper’s Charisma modifier.

This ability replaces wild empathy and the ranger’s spells class feature. A foe reaper does not gain any spells or spellcasting ability, does not have a caster level, and cannot use spell trigger and spell completion magic items.

Occult Grudge (Ex): At 1st level, a foe reaper gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks made against creatures that count as the favored enemy of his bound spirit. Likewise, he gains a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A foe reaper may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures. A foe reaper does not gain the benefits of his favored enemy unless he his bound to a spirit.

At 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the bonus against the favored enemies of the foe reaper’s bound spirit increases by +2.

This ability alters favored enemy.

Occult Combat Style: At 2nd level and every four levels thereafter, foe reaper gains a pact feat as a bonus feat. Alternatively, the foe reaper can select a binder secret in place of a pact feat. He must meet the feat or binder secret’s prerequisites, if any, and his ranger levels stack with any pactmaker levels he possesses for the purpose of meeting the prerequisites for binder secrets.

This ability replaces all combat style feats.

Hunter’s Occultism (Ex): At 4th level, a foe reaper forms a close bond with his hunting companions. This functions as a standard ranger’s hunter’s bond class feature, except the foe reaper must choose to form a bond with his allies. In addition to the usual benefits of his hunter’s bond, the foe reaper and his allies gain the benefits of the Ability Share† feat for the bond’s duration.

This ability alters hunter’s bond.
