Nyancaller (Summoner/Unchained Summoner Archetype)

The summoner’s strongest asset is their eidolon. Some summoners take their commitment to the creature they bond with to an extra degree, mutating and enhancing their companion’s capabilities into a more perfect and ideal form.

Some summoners just really like cats. The nyancaller introduces cat-like qualities onto everything they form this bond with.

This archetype requires sphere summoner.

Feline Myagic (Ex)

At 1st level, the Conjuration companion the nyancaller designates as their eidolon is referred to as their “meowdolon” for the purposes of this archetype. The meowdolon always possesses distinctly feline features (such as being an actual feline or a large rhinoceros with a cat’s ears and tail); most meowdolons will have the quadruped base form, but some nyancallers will bond with meowdolons of different shapes.

In addition, the nyancaller gains a permanent +1 bonus to their Conjuration sphere caster level with their meowdolon. This bonus does not stack with an incanter’s sphere specialization or other similar abilities.

This alters the eidolon class feature from the spheres summoner archetype.

Catacteristics (Su)

As the nyancaller grows in strength, so too does their meowdolon, evolving new abilities and constantly becoming more catlike. At 4th level, and every 3 levels thereafter, the nyancaller’s meowdolon gains a catacteristic, a unique trait which enhances their abilities. If a catacteristic grants an ability which requires a saving throw, the saving throw DC is equal to the nyancaller’s Conjuration sphere DC (10 + 1/2 the nyancaller’s Conjuration sphere caster level + the nyancaller’s casting ability modifier). Unless otherwise specified, each catacteristic may only be selected once.

The nyancaller may reselect their meowdolon’s catacteristics whenever they rest and regain spell points or would designate a new meowdolon (using the same process a sphere summoner designates their eidolon).

At 4th level, the nyancaller can select from the following catacteristics.

  • Catwalk: The meowdolon gains a +10 feet bonus to each of its movement types.
  • Claws: The meowdolon gains two claw attacks, as per the Conjuration sphere Bestial (form) talent.
  • Flexibility: The meowdolon gains the compression universal monster rule.
  • King of Beasts: The meowdolon counts as possessing the animal creature type in addition to their normal creature type whenever it would be advantageous. This does not allow the meowdolon to be the target of an instantaneous or permanent effect which only affects a creature with the animal type (such as the awaken spell). In addition, the meowdolon gains a limited form of truespeech, allowing the meowdolon to speak to any feline creature, including any creature which speaks a dialect of Nyanspeak.
  • Scent: The meowdolon gains the scent special quality, allowing it to detect creatures by sense of smell.
  • Wall Jumper: The meowdolon gains a climb speed equal to its land speed.

At 7th level, the nyancaller adds the following catacteristics to the list of those that can be selected.

  • Cat’s Eyes: The meowdolon can see in areas of supernatural darkness, functioning as the see in darkness universal monster rule.
  • Hidden Stalker: The meowdolon gains a bonus to Acrobatics and Stealth checks equal to 2 + 1/2 its Hit Dice and may move at full speed using the Stealth skill without penalty.
  • Jumpy Reflex: The meowdolon gains the evasion ability. If the meowdolon already possesses the evasion ability, the meowdolon instead rolls twice and takes the better result whenever they would be required to attempt a Reflex saving throw.
  • Long Claws: The meowdolon’s limbs elongate, increasing the meowdolon’s natural reach by +5 feet.
  • Pounce: The meowdolon gains the ability to make a full attack after a charge, as the pounce ability.
  • Resizing: As a standard action, the meowdolon may increase or decrease its size by 1 size category (from its natural size). This functions as the Altered Size (form) talent.
  • Sprint: Once per minute, the meowdolon can move at 10 times its normal speed when it makes a charge or takes the run action.
  • Thick Fat: The meowdolon is a little plump. The meowdolon gains energy resistance to cold and fire equal to its Hit Dice. This energy resistance stacks with other sources of energy resistance.

At 13th level, the nyancaller adds the following catacteristics to the list of those that can be selected.

  • Hair Trigger: The meowdolon gains improved evasion. (requires evasion or the jumpy reflex catacteristic).
  • Love Bites: Choose one of the meowdolon’s natural attacks. That natural attack gains the grab ability.
  • Prowl: The meowdolon becomes permanently invisible. This functions as the natural invisibility universal monster rule. This invisibility is suppressed until the end of the meowdolon’s next turn whenever the meowdolon makes an attack.
  • Scratch: The meowdolon gains the rake ability, selecting up to two of its natural attacks to use with this rake ability.
  • Sharp Fangs: Choose one of the meowdolon’s natural attacks. The meowdolon’s critical multiplier and critical threat range both increase by 1. This increase is applied after other increases, and stacks with effects such as the keen special weapon ability.

This ability replaces shield ally and greater shield ally.

Close Bonds (Su)

At 6th level, the nyancaller gains the Beckon And Pspsps feat as a bonus feat.

Nine Lives

At 16th level, the nyancaller gains the Conjuration sphere Call The Departed talent as a bonus talent. The nyancaller may use Call The Departed as a move action when resummoning their meowdolon. In addition, 8 times per day, when the nyancaller uses Call The Departed to resummon their meowdolon, they may do so without increasing the spell point cost and their meowdolon does not gain a temporary negative level (the meowdolon is still only resummoned with one-quarter of its maximum hit points).

This ability replaces merge forms.
