Pact Protector (Inquisitor Archetype)

Domain: A pact protector must select the Occult domain or one of its subdomains at 1st level. If she worships a deity, she must choose a deity who grants access to the Occult domain.

Bind Spirit: A pact protector may seal pacts with otherworldly entities known as spirits. In order to summon a spirit, the pact protector must learn the spirit’s ceremony, constellation, personality, and seal by completing its four Knowledge Tasks; see Researching the Spirit for more information on this process. A pact protector begins play having completed all four Knowledge Tasks for one 1st-level spirit of her choice.

Each day, a pact protector may bind one spirit to her soul using pact magic; see Performing a Pact Ritual. The spirit’s level may not exceed the pact protector’s maximum spirit level, which is limited to 1st-level spirits at 1st level. At 4th level and every three inquisitor levels thereafter, the pact protector’s maximum spirit level increases by 1, to a maximum of 6th-level spirits at 16th level.

A pact protector possesses a binder level equal to her level. The DC to resist a pact protector’s supernatural powers is equal to 10 + 1/2 the pact protector’s level + the pact protector’s Charisma modifier.

This ability replaces judgment 1/day.

Diminished Spellcasting: A pact protector possesses 1 fewer spell per day at each spell level. A pact protector who would receive 0 spells per day only receives bonus spells earned at that level as a result of a high Wisdom score.

Pact Augmentation (Su): At 4th level and every 3 levels thereafter, a pact protector gains the pactmaker’s pact augmentation class feature. She uses her inquisitor level as her effective pactmaker level to determine the effects of pact augmentation.

This ability replaces the later iterations of the judgment ability.

Binder Secret: At 8th, 16th, 17th, and 20th levels, a pact protector can gain a single binder secret, using her inquisitor level as her effective pactmaker level when determining if she meets the binder secret’s prerequisites as well as its benefit. A pact protector cannot select an alteration secret with this ability and she cannot select the Extra Binder Secret feat† unless she has levels in the pactmaker class.

This ability replaces second judgment, third judgment, slayer, and true judgment.
