Pactsworn Pagan (Druid Archetype)

Bind Spirit: A pactsworn pagan may seal pacts with otherworldly entities known as spirits. In order to summon a spirit, the pactsworn pagan must learn the spirit’s ceremony, constellation, personality, and seal by completing its four Knowledge Tasks; see Researching the Spirit for more information on this process. A pactsworn pagan begins play having completed all four Knowledge Tasks for one 1stlevel spirit of her choice that belongs to her chosen constellation (see tunneled lore below).

Each day, a pactsworn pagan may bind one spirit to her soul using pact magic; see Performing a Pact Ritual. The spirit’s level may not exceed the pactsworn pagan’s maximum spirit level, which is limited to 1st-level spirits at 1st level. At 4th level and every three druid levels thereafter, the pactsworn pagan’s maximum spirit level increases by 1, to a maximum of 6th-level spirits at 16th level.

A pactsworn pagan possesses a binder level equal to her level. The DC to resist a pactsworn pagan’s supernatural powers is equal to 10 + 1/2 the pactsworn pagan’s level + the pactsworn pagan’s Charisma modifier.

This ability replaces nature bond, woodland stride, trackless step, resist nature’s lure, venom immunity, a thousand faces, and timeless body.

Tunneled Lore: At 1st level, a pactsworn pagan chooses the Beast, Skull, or Tree constellation. She may only seal pacts with starless spirits and spirits belonging to her chosen constellation. All other constellations are barred to her.

Spirit Shape (Su): At 4th level, when a pactsworn pagan uses her wild shape, she can assume a form that matches her bound spirit’s vestigial companion, functioning as any polymorph spell on the sorcerer/wizard spell list (even ones not normally accessible via wild shape) with a level equal to or less than half her druid level. For example, while bound to Sevnoir, a druid of 6th level or higher could use wild shape to assume the form of a dog, as beast shape I.

A pactsworn pagan cannot use wild shape if she is not bound to a spirit, nor can she use wild shape to transform into a creature that cannot be replicated by a polymorph spell on the sorcerer/wizard spell list. She may not use spirit shape as adjustable polymorphACG, shapechange, or any similar spell that allows her to change which form she has assumed after the spell’s initial casting.

This ability alters wild shape.
