Diamond Spheres: Harmony & Discord

These advisor’s are deep, profound thinkers that ponder the aspects of life that others simply do not. A philosopher is nothing without an audience, either to refute and bounce ideas off of, or to simply give their ramblings some level of validity. Regardless, they use this (mostly) one-sided collaborative effort to reinforce their own theories, and potentially those that linger around them too.

Well-Learned

At 2nd level, the philosopher adds half his advisor level as a bonus to all Artistry, Knowledge, Linguistics, and Lore checks. This bonus also applies to any check made to recall information (such as attempting a Heal check to recall information about medical practices).

This replaces factotum.

Collective Theory

At 4th level, the philosopher gains the Study sphere as well as the Collaborative Understanding talent as bonus skill talents.

Whenever a synergised ally uses a Study sphere breakthrough from the other synergized allies’ active theory, both allies gain the benefits of the breakthrough.

Additionally, if an ally the philosopher has synergy with is responsible for one of his theories gaining 1 notion (such as being a creature who hits the subject of his theory with an attack roll that exceeds their AC by 5 or more with the Circumvent Defenses talent), the theory gains a second notion; the same ally cannot trigger this ability more than once per minute.

This replaces shared experience.

Versatile Knowledge

At 5th level, the philosopher chooses one type of Knowledge skill he is trained in. The philosopher may use the bonus in that Knowledge skill in place of his bonus in that skill’s related skills and unlocks skill leverage with those skills if he did not already have it unlocked. For every 5 advisor levels beyond 5th, he may select an additional type of Knowledge skill to substitute.

The types of Knowledge and their related skills are: Arcana (Linguistics, Spellcraft), Dungeoneering (Acrobatics, Stealth), Engineering (Appraise, Disable Device), Geography (Diplomacy, Survival), History (Appraise, Linguistics), Local (Disguise, Sense Motive), Nature (Handle Animal, Survival), Nobility (Bluff, Diplomacy), Planes (Diplomacy, Linguistics), and Religion (Diplomacy, Heal).

This replaces advisor’s edge.

Socratic Dialogue

At 5th level, the philosopher gains the Collaborative Research Communication sphere talent as a bonus talent, and extends the benefits of the talent to all creatures that share his rapport (allowing such creatures to aid one another’s Knowledge checks).

Additionally, whenever the philosopher’s active theory would gain a notion, once per round a creature that shares his rapport can spend an immediate action to offer a refutation to the learned information in an attempt to gain further insights into it. The philosopher can choose to ignore this effect or attempt a Knowledge check relevant to the theory (DC 15 + his ranks in the Study sphere’s associated skill). If successful, the theory instead gains 2 notions, and the action does not count towards the normal limit for a specific action granting a notion. On a failed check, the theory gains no notion.

This replaces collaborative leverage.

Esprit de L'avid

At 17th level, the esprit de corps ability applies to insight bonuses instead of morale bonuses.

This alters esprit de corps.
