Precogs read the flow of time, pinpointing unique happenings to twist in their favor. These paradoxes seamlessly blend into the precog’s experiences, granting an illusion of sublime fortune.

This archetype requires sphere magus

Trade Tradition

If this is the character’s first level, they choose a trade tradition. Their trade rank is adroit. If this is not the character’s first level, they instead choose one trade talent from the Vocation sphere as a bonus talent.

This replaces the magus’ normal class skills.

Proficiencies

Precogs are proficient with simple weapons, as well as light armor and bucklers. In addition, if this is this character’s first level in any class, they may select a martial tradition of their choice.

This alters proficiencies.

Blended Training

A precog gains a combat, magic, or skill talent (some of which are required to be utility talents) using the journeyman talent progression (or the virtuoso talent progression, if the precog replaces the bonus feats class features). A precog’s casting ability modifier determines his operative and practitioner modifiers.

This replaces magic talents

Distortion Aficionado (Su)

At 1st level, the precog gains either the Fate sphere, Time sphere, or Warp sphere as a bonus talent. He may use his precog level in place of his caster level for the chosen sphere. In addition, the precog may use his casting ability modifier in place of his Intelligence modifier for magus class features.

Paradox (Su)

A precog cannot use his arcane pool to enhance his weapon. Rather, when the precog regains his spell points, he rolls 1d20 for each point in his arcane pool and records the result. These d20s, known as paradoxes, may not be rerolled using abilities, and any unused paradoxes are lost when the precog regains his spell points.

The precog may spend an arcane pool point to use one of his paradoxes in place of a specific d20 roll he would make, using paradox’s associated result instead of rolling a random result. A paradox die functions in every way like a normally rolled die; a paradox of 1 functions as a natural 1, and a paradox of 20 functions as a natural 20. He cannot use a paradox that has already been rolled. Some precog abilities simply require him to use a paradox without using its associated result. Regardless of how he uses a paradox, it is lost and cannot be used again.

At 1st level and every 4 levels thereafter, the precog selects one of the following options for a type of d20 roll he can use a paradox for:

  • Attack rolls.
  • Ability checks.
  • Fortitude saving throws.
  • Reflex saving throws.
  • Will saving throws.
  • Magic skill checks.
  • 2 skills of his choice. This may be selected multiple times.

This alters arcane pool and replaces spell combat. The precog may still take other archetypes that alter the number of points in his arcane pool.

Advanced Spellstrike (Su)

At 2nd level, whenever a precog uses a standard action to activate any magic sphere ability that requires a touch attack, he can deliver the spell through any weapon he is wielding (including ranged weapons). Instead of making a touch attack to deliver the effect, a precog can make one free attack with his weapon (at his highest base attack bonus) as part of activating this ability; this attack is treated as an attack action.

If successful, this attack deals its normal damage as well as the effects of the magic sphere ability. This attack uses the weapon’s critical range (20, 19–20, or 18–20 and modified by the keen weapon special ability or similar effects), but the sphere effect only deals ×2 damage on a successful critical hit, while the weapon damage uses its own critical modifier.

This alters but otherwise counts as the spellstrike class feature.

Bonus Feats

A precog can select the Extra Magic Talent or Extra Skill Talent feat as a bonus feat in addition to the feats normally available. This alters the magus’s bonus feats.

Chronomatic Distortion (Su)

At 7th level, the precog discovers an alternate use for paradoxes. He may select one of the following options, plus an additional option at 13th and 16th levels:

  • Rewrite: As an immediate action after the precog knows the result of a d20 roll which he could affect with paradox, he may spend an arcane pool point to instead use a paradox.
  • Safeguard: As an immediate action when the precog takes damage, he can use a paradox to reduce the amount of damage taken by an amount equal to the paradox, up to a maximum reduction of 10. The maximum increases to 20 at 13th level. At 19th level, he can use this ability as a free action which can be taken outside his turn.
  • Temporal Aggression: When the precog or an adjacent ally rolls damage dice, he can spend an arcane pool point to use a paradox in place of rolling one or more damage dice. If he does so, treat the result as either the value of the paradox or the maximum result of the damage dice, whichever is lower. For example, he could use a paradox of 11 in place of a 1d10 points of damage die to get a value for 10 for that damage die or in place of 4d6 to get a value of 11 for the total of those two damage dice. He can use this ability multiple times per damage roll, but only once per damage die.
  • Temporal Defense: As an immediate action, the precog can spend an arcane pool point and use a paradox to grant an ally an insight bonus to AC until the end of his next turn. This bonus is equal to the paradox result or a maximum bonus of +3, whichever is lower. The maximum bonus increases to +4 at 13th level and +5 at 19th level.
  • Temporal Flow: As a swift action, the precog can spend an arcane pool point and use a paradox to increase the save DC on a sphere effect he created. This increase is equal to the paradox result or a maximum bonus of 1, whichever is lower. The maximum bonus increases to 2 at 13th level and 3 at 19th level.

This replaces medium armor, heavy armor, and counterstrike.

Improved Paradoxes (Su)

At 8th level, the precog may forgo rolling one of his paradoxes when he regains spell points to instead treat it as a 10. At 14th level, the precog may forgo rolling up to two paradoxes and treat them as 15s. At 20th level, the precog may forgo rolling up to three paradoxes and treat them as 20s.

This replaces improved spell combat and greater spell combat.

Timeless Paragon (Su)

At 20th level, the precog no longer ages, nor does he die of old age. When the precog rests to regain spell points, he may exchange any feat, talent, or magus arcana he possesses for another that he meets the prerequisites for.

This replaces true magus.
