Diamond Spheres: Thaumic Potential

“Am I the hammer or the chisel? What a dumb question; I packed both”. Combining magic, martial training and unparalleled acumen, these rogues manage to be both focused and versatile in their specialties, preferring to be a ‘master of many’ over a jack-of-all-trades.

Trade Tradition

If this is this character’s first level in any class, the shade can select a trade tradition of her choice, and has an adroit trade rank.

This replaces the rogue’s normal class skills.

Blended Training

At 1st level, the shade gains 3/4ths of a combat, magic, or skill talent every time she gains a class level. Shades use their casting ability modifier as their practitioner and operative ability modifier.

This replaces the rogue talents gained at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 20th level.

Casting

The shade may combine spheres and talents to create magical effects. The shade is considered a Mid-Caster. (Note: All casters gain 2 bonus talents and a casting tradition the first time they gain the casting class feature).

Spell Pool

The shade gains a reservoir of energy she can call on to create truly wondrous effects, called a spell pool. This pool contains a number of spell points equal to her rogue level + her casting ability modifier (minimum 1). This pool replenishes once per day after roughly 8 hours of rest.

Professional Method

At 2nd level, the shade gains a professional method of her choice, as if it were her second method, as well as the professional interest class feature. She treats her rogue levels as professional levels for this purpose.

This replaces trapfinding.

Shade Machination

At 3rd level, the shade chooses one shade machination. Once chosen, this choice cannot be changed.

This replaces danger sense, uncanny dodge, and improved uncanny dodge.

Shade’s Edge

Whenever the shade would choose a skill unlock power at 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter, the shade can instead choose a single combat, magic, or skill sphere she possesses. The chosen sphere uses the shade’s class level instead of its relevant statistic (base attack bonus, caster level, or skill ranks) when determining its effects.

This does not raise the statistic for other purposes, such as attack rolls or skill checks made not as part of the sphere (for example, it would apply when attempting to use the Investigation sphere to analyze, but not when making a Sense Motive to determine if a creature is lying).

This alters rogue’s edge.
