Unbound Pactmaker (Pactmaker Archetype)

Monstrous Aspects (Su): When an unbound pactmaker seals a good pact with a spirit, her body gains a bestial mutation as a result of her master bartering techniques. She selects one type of animal (such as bear, tiger, and so on) and gains one monstrous aspect in the form of an ability that the chosen animal possesses for the duration of the pact. A monstrous aspect is considered a minor granted ability and manifests physically upon the unbound pactmaker. The nature of the mutation is decided by the player but this is a real mutation that is treated like a spirit’s physical sign except that it cannot be suppressed. An unbound pactmaker can gain up to one monstrous aspect per good pact that she makes with a spirit. She cannot select the same mutation more than once.

At 1st level, the unbound pactmaker may select from the following monstrous aspects: compression, darkvision 60 feet, low-light vision, natural armor +1, scent, swim 30 feet.

At 4th level, the unbound pactmaker may select from the following monstrous aspects: climb 30 feet, Compression darkvision 60 feet, low-light vision, natural armor +2, scent, swim 30 feet.

At 10th level, the unbound pactmaker may select from the following monstrous aspects: burrow 20 feet, climb 40 feet, constrict (damage as an unarmed strike), darkvision 90 feet, grab, jet, lifesense 10 feet, low-light vision, natural armor +3, scent, swim 40 feet, trample (damage as an unarmed strike), web.

At 16th level, the unbound pactmaker may select from the following monstrous aspects: blindsense 10 feet, burrow 30 feet, climb 60 feet, constrict (damage as an unarmed strike), darkvision 120 feet, fly 60 feet (average maneuverability), grab, jet, lifesense 10 feet, low-light vision, natural armor +4, pounce, resistance 20 (any element), rock catching, rock throwing (60 feet, 2d6 damage), scent, swim 40 feet, trample (damage as an unarmed strike), and web.

This ability replaces constellation aspects.

Innate Occultism (Su): At 7th level, an unbound pactmaker gains the ability to use one spirit’s major granted ability once per day without needing to be bound to that spirit. In order to select a spirit with this ability, the unbound pactmaker must have completed all four Knowledge Tasks for the chosen spirit and it cannot belong to a constellation that the unbound pactmaker has barred. Once per day, she may use the selected spirit’s major granted ability as though she were bound to the spirit. If she is bound to her chosen spirit, she gains a +1 bonus to her binder level when using that spirit’s major granted ability. If the spirit has more than one major granted ability (such as Son of Dobb), she must choose which major granted ability to transform into an innate granted ability.

At 13th level and 19th level, the unbound pactmaker selects another major granted ability to transform into an innate granted ability. She may select the same granted ability multiple times, increasing the number of uses per day she possesses by 1. Selecting the same major granted ability multiple times does not increase the bonus to her binder level that the unbound pactmaker receives while bound to the spirit.

This ability replaces spirit mastery.

Monstrous Transformation (Ex): At 20th level, the unbound pactmaker transforms into a horrifying mockery of herself. Her type changes to monstrous humanoid and she permanently gains one monstrous aspect of her choice, even while she isn’t bound to a spirit.

This ability replaces occult mastery.
