Meshing the meditative arts of manipulating ki with an advanced understanding of arcane theory, wand masters have a unique facility for wielding the magic contained within magic wands, even channeling their ki through the arcane instruments.
Class Skills: The wand master gains Spellcraft (Int) and Use Magic Device (Cha) as class skills but does not gain Diplomacy (Cha) or Intimidate (Cha).
This alters the sage’s class skills.
Ki Magic: Starting at 1st level, the wand master may expend a point of ki from his ki pool as part of the Use Magic Device check to activate a wand, gaining a +5 insight bonus on the check. The wand master does not gain the ability to increase his speed by 20 feet.
In addition, a wand master may expend a point of ki when activating a wand in place of expending one of the wand’s charges or spell points.
This alters the ki pool class feature.
Chi Gong Wand Strike: From 3rd level on, whenever the wand master succeeds at the free melee touch attack granted by a touch spell cast through a wand, he may add his chi gong damage to the spell’s normal effects, dealing its normal damage type. At 9th level, whenever the wand master delivers his chi gong damage in this manner, he treats the attack as an attack action.
This replaces the style talents normally gained at 3rd and 9th level.
Retaliatory Wand Magic: Starting at 4th level, whenever the wand master succeeds at a Spellcraft check to recognize a spell or magical effect, he may spend a point of ki as an immediate action to activate a wand he is currently holding that could target the caster of the spell or effect. If a spell or effect in his wand matches the spell or effect that triggered this ability, he may attempt to counterspell the spell instead of targeting the caster with the wand’s normal effect.
In addition, the wand master gains CounterspellSoP as a bonus feat.
This replaces the esotery normally gained at 4th level.
